About the scheme

Following guidelines set out by the Home Office, COLBAC has an elected board of officers operating as a management team, the officers of which have been directly elected from the membership.

COLBAC membership consist of some of the very biggest High Street names as well as many other speciality and independent shops that make Colchester a unique shopping destination. The growing membership of COLBAC is testament to the success of the scheme and a clear recommendation to businesses considering joining.

A key partner to COLBAC is Colchester Borough Council's CCTV system. A first class system offering exceptional service in the CCTV coverage of Colchester's town centre is a major tool in the town's fight against crime. The CCTV operators work very closely with the town centre policing unit and COLBAC members' security staff to ensure a rapid responses to any incident.

Much of the success in making Colchester a safe town in which to shop and work in, is thanks to the commitment of the local partnership in making town centre policing a priority.

COLBAC's management team ensures the flow of information on local crime and known criminals is both relevant and up to date, through newsletters and members meetings. Our new intelligent database DISC, via an App is just about to be introduced across the membership.
